Common Myths on Slot Machines
I'm sure many of you have heard the term "Hot" machine and "Cold" machine but because slot machines are now all run with Random Number Generators these terms just no longer apply. Unless you are playing a UK-AWP or a Japan-style Pachisuro it is highly unlikely that your chances will increase over time. Another common belief is that there is a science to the placement of the slot machines on the floor and that the highest payouts are in the most traffic areas. The truth is that although there is a science to placing the slot machines by grouping the machines with similar payout percentages (the machines varying only about 1% from each other will be grouped together), the exact location isn't really determined by anything. Some people believe that payouts are different depending on time and day at a casino or if you are a club member or not. Since payout percentages are also programmed and take a process to change, this is not true. My favorite misconception is the missed wins. It has happened before that you stand up from a machine and the next person sits and immediately hits the jackpot, instantly bitter you think, "If I had just played one more game". But you can relax. Don't be upset, since numbers are selected thousands per second each fraction of a second may mean a different combination so it is impossible to know that the same line would have played out had you stayed.
